Myanmar Earthquake- A Message From Our President
I have had many people ask about how our homes are doing after the massive earthquake that struck central Myanmar and caused damage over 1000km away.
Most of our homes are very rural and all but a couple are single story structures. This is a blessing as the casualties were mostly from multi-story building collapses.
As I write this, rescue and recovery efforts are continuing in Myanmar without much if any government support or assistance. One news outlet reported that the day after the quake, the military (currently governing due to 2021 coup) continued their bombing of areas believed to be supporting the peoples resistance.
AS the capital city of Mandalay lies in smoking ruins with thousands of dead and tens of thousands unaccounted for, their government’s response was further destruction and intimidation of its own people.
Be thankful for where you live and our government, however flawed it may be.
We currently have 3 active and one inactive home in Myanmar, as of 4-1, I have heard from both of the homes that were closest to the epicenter of the quake. Everyone is OK, although 5.0+ aftershocks are continuing multiple times daily and causing significant anxiety.
One of the homes suffered significant cracking of the walls and concrete structures as well as apparent flooring that sank / broke loose.
We were already helping with some emergency aid Including a large orphanage (100+) that was forced to flee their village due to military activities and I expect we will be receiving more emergency requests. Please donate funds now if you can and we will ensure 100% of the funds donated make it provide emergency relief.
Prayers are appreciated, funds help answer them.
Blessings:
