DOI Update December

Children Food:

Through the support of DOI, our home has been able to provide our kids with daily meals to grow up healthy and strong. Three times meat provided including eggs within a week and vegetables and other beans. They are also provided with season fruits and snacks once a week.

The price of rice, a food staple and other commodities are still rising due to the current political unrest. The prices increased have made lives even harder for the million internally displaced people who have fled their home due to the fighting. Skyrocketing commodities prices affected the shops as well. People tend to reduce food and general costs amid low income and inflation. We still use firewood and a generator for cooking meals when a power outage.

Children Education:

The children go to school every day (Monday-Friday) 5 days a week. They do their homework and study at home according to the curriculum of our home. We try our best every kid receives a good quality education and gains the skills and knowledge when they are matured.

Sarah has passed her first-year exams of university and waiting for her 2nd year to get admission. The support of DOI shaped her life and gave her the possibility to become a future hope she has.

Children Health:

This month the children at our home are safe and healthy by God’s grace. Daina and Paul were sick with earache for a few days but after taking the doctor’s treatment they have recovered. We are taking good care of every one of our children.

We are so thankful to God for His protection and His care in so many ways. The children are provided with vitamins every month. We are taking care of every one of our children’s health, providing them with healthy foods, making sure they get enough sleep and exercise and ensure their safety.

Children Spiritual Lives:

Our home devotional for kids is to learn more about the Bible, memorize a new verse, and build up their faith through prayer. We conduct a Bible study and responsive reading to the children so they can be improved in reading skill and spiritual growth. This time is meant to further our knowledge of one another as well as give us enjoyment. We have each day an amazing outpouring of God’s Spirit in praising, worshipping, reading Bibles and drawing closer to God daily. We enjoy devotion time altogether.

All the children enjoy going to church on every Sunday morning and performing at church.

As birthday celebrations are very special, we celebrate each child’s birthday every month at our home. This month, Titus and Lucy’s birthday were celebrated with giving thanks to God, prayers and eating candy and snacks.

We celebrated sweet December with fried rice cake and cooked a BBQ. It was very fun and nice treat for everyone.

Sunday school Awards:

The Church Sunday school growth award is for students who’ve completed assignments and projects in a timely manner and shown a deep understanding and appreciation of the lessons they’re learning. At the end of every year, they did Bible exams and from our home – Ruth, Melody, Daina, Andrew, Thomas and Phillip were received an achievement award from our Church Sunday school.

Christmas & New Year:

We had a wonderful Christmas celebration on December 24th at our home & 25th at our church.

We rented a soccer futsal court for five hours on December 23rd and everyone played soccer. We invited some of the neighbor’s kids on this day. It was a lot of fun, and everyone enjoyed themselves. We also arranged the sports day for the kids on January 1st, 2023, and had a dinner party. All the kids enjoyed and everyone had a great time. Please see the photos I attached.

Update on the current crisis in Myanmar: (Burma)

It’s been almost two years since the military State Administration Council seized control of the government. The military’s indiscriminate still using of artillery and airstrikes has injured and killed civilians, damaged cities, burnt many houses, including schools, and making people in danger and insecure and forced millions of people to flee.

The situation in Myanmar is characterized by growing violence and insecurity and resulted in significant forced displacement within the country. As a result, humanitarian needs grow exponentially and the resultant economic impact. Humanitarian access in many parts of Myanmar is restricted by insecurity, roadblocks, and challenges in obtaining access approvals. Local civil wars have developed day by day in large parts of Myanmar, and millions of people are headed for absolute poverty.

Fighting between military forces and non-state armed groups is occurring very often in the areas and resulted in a significant number of deaths, the displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians. Violence in the area is ongoing and the situation is volatile. Bomb explosions have occurred throughout the city especially in night time. Power electricity and internet services have been disrupted so we can’t get on internet very often. Intense fighting between Myanmar’s military junta forces and People Defense Force (PDF) have been ongoing these days in the villages and city where we live.

Please continue to remember us in your prayers. We do appreciate your continued prayers for our safety and God’s protection. Our humble prayer is that God will end this awful situation soon and re-establish peace in the country.

We are so thankful for God’s faithfulness to our home, and for your generosity and support, which changes the lives of the kids we serve.

DOI for giving the kids a happy childhood and a secure future and we are so thankful.  Thanks so much for all that DOI has done throughout the year to show God’s love to these kids and families in need. Blessings to you and all at “DOI”.
