Displaced Orphans Intl. is Mourning the loss of one of our own.

Christine Yateman has been our book keeper and a key part of our events team, board member and good friend or family to all of us in the DOI family. Christine has gone onto her well deserved reward in Heaven. We are requesting prayer for her family and everyone’s prayer and support is welcome. The hole in our hearts and organization created with her passing will not be easy to heal. Christine was a bright shining example of Christian Love to everyone she came in contact with and an adopted mom to more people than we could count. We all miss you Chris !!!

Christine Bette (Walvatne) Yateman, 74 was born on July 6, 1949, to Edwin & Jennie Walvatne in Seattle, WA and went to be with our Lord Jesus on February 14th 2024 after losing a brief painless battle with lung cancer.

Christine grew up In Edmonds, WA and graduated from Edmonds High School in 1967.  Her first job after graduating was with Seattle First National Bank where she met and later married Craig Alfred Yateman on March 21, 1970. She was a talented artist and loved painting, gardening, spending time with her family, golfing and traveling with her husband especially to the Hawaiian Islands. She spent most of her years as a devoted wife and caring mother not only to her own children but also to those God put in her path who needed a mom. Craig and Christine raised their family of 3 girls in Brier WA and later she worked as a bookkeeper and accountant. She had just retired from full time work in December of 2023. She volunteered her time and talents keeping the books and serving on the board for Displaced Orphans International, her favorite charity.

Christine had such a passion for life and was known for her love of hummingbirds like her mother before her and had a true servant’s heart. Christine was an active member alongside her husband Craig at Gold Creek Community Church. She attended countless Women’s bible studies, served at community events and especially loved being a mentor mom for MOPS.
