Urgent Update: Crisis in Myanmar Necessitates Immediate Support
To our dedicated followers and supporters,
We bring forth an alarming update from one of the areas we actively support in northern Myanmar (Burma).
Over the past few days, an alarming incident unfolded in Kalay Township, Myanmar. The Myanmar military, in confrontations with local ethnic armed groups, targeted the Sekan village. This resulted in the ruthless burning of over 600 homes during a three-day onslaught from October 11th to 13th leaving hundreds of people without homes. Many have lost loved ones during this attack.
The military’s aggression forced the villagers – all of whom are Christian believers – to abandon their homes for safety. Among many heartbreaking casualties were a 67-year-old woman and a 14-year-old child. In a move of extreme cruelty, their bodies were burned post-mortem by the military junta. Reports indicate that the junta soldiers have continued their destructive path, igniting residences as a direct response to ongoing tensions with the Chin National Defence Force (CNDF).
Thousands have since sought refuge in Kalaymyo, fleeing the intense and ongoing conflict in their villages. This particular strife is troublingly close to one of the orphanages we support. Due to the rising intensity of the conflict, marked by the use of jet fighters, helicopters, and airstrikes, there is a looming fear that if the fight extends towards Kalay city, an evacuation might become inevitable for the safety of those at the orphanage.
The current circumstances in Myanmar paint a grim picture of escalating violence, insecurity, and resulting internal displacement.
1. **Immediate financial support Needed**: The urgent situation demands immediate funding to assist the affected communities, refugees, and orphans. With the potential need to evacuate, resources will be crucial in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children and staff at the orphanage.
2. **Prayers for Protection**: We humbly ask for your prayers for the innocent civilians and our affiliated orphanage’s safety from the devastating effects of war.
3. **Prayers for Refugees**: Keep in your thoughts and prayers those who’ve tragically lost their homes, belongings, and loved ones. Their resilience and safety are paramount.
4. **End to the Violence**: Let’s unite in hoping and praying for an end to this tragic war, that peace may prevail and lives be spared.
In these trying times, every ounce of support, whether financial or through prayer is invaluable. We thank you for standing with us and the communities we serve. Together, let’s make a difference and bring hope to those in desperate need.
God bless,
Displaced Orphans International
